Zayed University’s Master of Science in Human Nutrition is designed to advance the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) commitment to health, wellness, and food security – key pillars of the UAE Centennial 2071 vision, the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031 and the UAE National Nutrition Strategy 2030. The program equips students with advanced knowledge in nutrition science, applied nutrition, and public health nutrition, while fostering research that addresses national priorities such as combatting lifestyle diseases, improving community health, and shaping sustainable nutrition policies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

Utilize specialized knowledge in nutritional sciences to relate to existing scientific literature and practices along with being able to explain the role of nutrients in health and disease.
Utilize evidence-based knowledge in health and nutrition to critically evaluate multidisciplinary and socio-culturally diverse issues in their field.
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication on aspects of human nutrition, that are justified by scientific literature and supported by information technology skills.
Take responsibility for working autonomously, ethically, and respectfully in different settings related to human nutrition; demonstrate continuous professional development through reflection and evaluation on their own practices. Design and evaluate evidence-based nutrition interventions for the prevention and control of chronic diseases.

Academic Requirements

An earned bachelor’s degree in a health-related field such as nutrition, public health, medicine, medical science, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, health education, biological science, biochemistry, and physiology from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 (or 2.5 for conditional admission) or higher on a 4.0-point scale or equivalent.
English language proficiency: - A TOEFL score of 213 CBT, 79 iBT (or 197 CBT, 71 iBT for conditional admission), or - An IELTS (Academic) overall band score of not less than 6.0 (or 5.5 for conditional admission), or - Evidence that the applicant is a native speaker of English who has completed his/her undergraduate education in an English medium institution in a country where English is the official language.
Applicants who have successfully completed a baccalaureaute degree in a field not listed above, but who possess other professional or non-professional qualifications and/or substantial relevant experience, may apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
