Overview

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Marketing degree at Heriot-Watt University draws on our well-established undergraduate programmes. This programme is comprised of core courses in both psychology and marketing, ensuring that you’ll graduate with a deep understanding of the nature of both disciplines and the many impactful links between them. The mandatory courses in the programme are taken from the core courses in both disciplines, ensuring that you will graduate with a deep understanding of the nature of psychology and marketing, and the many constructive linkages between them. Throughout this degree, you will explore courses in all core areas of Psychology, including biological, cognitive, social, developmental, individual differences, conceptual and historical issues, and research methods, giving you a comprehensive foundation in the discipline of Psychology. You will also study foundational marketing courses in your first two years that will introduce you to the principles of the discipline. In your third and fourth year, you will take more specialised courses which will allow you to explore areas of marketing in depth. Our BSc Psychology with Marketing programme offers you the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh to experience studying the programme in a different environment and culture. You can travel for one semester or one academic year, and we recommend that you do this in year two or the first part of year three. Throughout the programme you’ll undergo training in research methods and statistical analysis, culminating in a dissertation in the fourth year, which will run across both semesters of your final year. At all stages of the programme, there will be opportunities to take optional courses, allowing you to tailor your studies to meet your own interests. The precise choice of courses at each stage will change over time, adapting to your interests and the research specialisms of academic staff.

Required Documents

a research proposal (at Question 9, under ‘Background Information', please enter the full project title and reference number (if applicable). Please also provide at least 250 words (for civil engineering areas we need a title and 6-7 sentences) about your proposed area of research, the topic is normally provided by the applicant. Applications will not be considered until we have received this information from you, (unless stated otherwise in any current advertising we have for specific individual projects where the relevant project title and reference is required instead).
