The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at Gulf Medical University is a six-year, outcomes-based professional program comprising 217 credit hours, delivered over ten academic semesters followed by one year of advanced experiential training. Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

Develop, integrate, and apply knowledge from foundational sciences to evaluate scientific literature, explain drug action/interactions, solve therapeutic problems, and advance population health and patient-centered care.
Provide pharmacist-delivered patient care to diverse populations using trusted evidence and resources, while respecting clients' best interests and beliefs.
Engage in innovative and entrepreneurial activities by using creative thinking to envision better and productive ways of accomplishing professional goals.
Identify problems; explore and prioritize potential strategies and design, implement, and evaluate viable solutions.
Educate healthcare providers, patients, and the general population by determining the most effective way to impart knowledge and assess understanding.

Academic Requirements

The applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 years of school education.
The applicant must have passed any one of the following English Language Proficiency Tests with a minimum score as follows.
Applicants from any other non-UAE educational systems must submit an Equivalency Certificate of their High School certificate from the Ministry of Education, UAE.
Applicants must meet the following minimum grade requirements (as per the UAE Grade Equivalency), completing any three out of the four science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics).
All applicants shall complete a written situational assessment comprising six short-answer questions (75-100 words each) based on real-life healthcare scenarios.

English Language Proficiency Score (English High school marks/IELTS/TOEFL, etc.)

Perform precise calculations in pharmacy practice and interpret statistical data processing and evaluation.

Demonstrate responsibility for creating and achieving shared goals, effectively manage resources, and participate in organizational planning.

Apply advanced clinical knowledge of evidence-based pharmacotherapy to patient care and management of complex health system functions.

Optimize advanced person-centered clinical pharmacy care by integrating principles of problem-solving, patient advocacy, ethical decision-making, and patient empowerment.

Implement culturally responsive health education, health promotion, disease prevention, and medication safety strategies tailored to clients' literacy levels and overcoming health system barriers.

Demonstrate advanced clinical communication and interprofessional collaboration skills to provide effective care, including in complex situations.

Exhibit advanced leadership, management, and innovation skills by strategically optimizing healthcare resources, leveraging digital technologies, and enhancing safe, efficient, and sustainable medication-use.

Engage in scholarly activities that address complex clinical and health system challenges.

Demonstrate ethical conduct, professional responsibility, regulatory compliance, and integrity in clinical pharmacy practice.

Engage in deep self-reflection and self-directed learning to foster professional growth, adaptability, and meaningful contributions to healthcare.

Upon successful completion of the above step, the applicant will attend an interview and parent meet the admissions committee.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum criteria OR lack one of the science subjects are required to complete the non-credit remedial course with a passing score of 70%.

If the applicant does not meet the minimum score for two science subjects OR lacks two science subjects in Grades 11 or 12, they are required to do the Foundation program.
