Overview

The National Qualifications Center (NQC) in the UAE accredited the Diploma in Pharmacy Technician (DPT) program. The DPT is a two-year (92 credits) program spread over 4 semesters. The DPT program equips graduates with specialized knowledge and skills to practice as pharmacy technicians in various healthcare and industrial practice settings; including hospitals, clinics, community pharmacies and pharmaceutical industry.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

Incorporate basic biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences knowledge to drug use in pharmacy practice.
Perform pharmaceutical compounding, dispensing and administering medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Prepare medications for dispensing to patients based on prescriptions and medication orders with necessary dose calculations and instructions.
Assist in pharmacy operations including inventory control, drug storage, billing, insurance claims submission, automation, and drug distribution.
Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and healthcare professionals.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements upholding ethical and moral standards in the pharmacy profession.

Academic Requirements

The applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 years of school education.
The applicant must be at least 17 years of age by December 31st of the year of admission.
The applicant must have passed an English language proficiency test with a minimum score of 70% in Grade 12 English (UAE education system), or 32-34 TOEFL iBT, or 4.5 IELTS Academic, or pass the GMU English test at 70%.
The applicant must have completed Biology and Chemistry in grades 10-12.
Applicants must meet minimum GPA/score requirements that vary by educational system, ranging from 35-60%.
Applicants from non-UAE educational systems must submit an Equivalency Certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education.

Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education, UAE for international curriculum
