Academic Requirements

Completion of a recognized Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate for the Graduate Program of admission choice.
A minimum cumulative CGPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent in the applicant's Bachelor's degree.
A minimum score of 1400 on the English Language portion of the EmSAT examination or its equivalent on other national or internationally recognized tests that are approved by the CAA, such as a TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT, 79 iBT), or 6.0 IELTS academic.
Students who have completed undergraduate education in an English medium institution might be allowed admission into a graduate program without demonstrating a TOEFL 550 score of 550 (or equivalent). This exemption can apply only to those students who undertook all their schooling (K-12) and a Bachelor's degree in English in a reference English-speaking country (e.g. UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand).

Prospective applicants seeking admission to the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence program are required to possess a related undergraduate degree. Acceptable qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following specializations: Bachelor of Computer Science or its equivalent, Bachelor of Engineering or its equivalent, Bachelor of Information Technology or its equivalent, Bachelor of Mathematics or its equivalent.

If an applicant does not hold a baccalaureate degree in any of the specializations listed in “MscAI Program Specific Admission Requirement” above, then the applicant must pass one, two, or all of the following three remedial courses, each of which is 3 credits (not be counted towards the program credits), to qualify for regular admission to the MscAI program in addition to all other applicable admission requirements. The remedial courses are not considered part of the MscAI program. The School of Engineering and Applied Science and Technology will decide about the remedial courses based on the CGPA and/or program-related knowledge in the baccalaureate degree of the applicant: MAI 501 Programming for AI, MAI 502 Introduction to AI, MAI 503 Discrete Mathematics to Computer Science.

Conditional admissions to MScAI program may be offered to the students with a recognized Bachelor's degree and an EmSAT score of 1250 or its equivalent on another standardized test approved by the CAA, such as a TOEFL score of 530 (197 CBT, 71 iBT), or 5.5 IELTS academic to a Master's program. The conditionally admitted students must meet the following requirements during the period of conditional admission, or their admission be subject to dismissal: must achieve an EmSAT score of 1400 or equivalent, by the end of the student's first semester of study; must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in the first six credit hours of credit-bearing courses studied for the graduate program.

Conditional admissions to MScAI program may be offered to students with a recognized Bachelor's degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent. Such a student must take a maximum of nine credit hours of courses studied for the graduate program during the period of conditional admission and must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the courses studied for the graduate program. If a student does not succeed in achieving a CGPA of 3.0 then the admission will be cancelled.

Conditional admissions to MScAI program may also be offered to students with a recognized Bachelor's degree and CGPA is between 2.0 and 2.49, on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent. Students under this category must achieve CGPA 3.0 by the end of condition period for a maximum of nine hours graduate-level as remedial preparation for the graduate program (These remedial courses are not for credit within the degree program).

An undergraduate equivalency certificate issued by the Ministry of Education in the UAE is required for all students who completed their undergraduate degrees outside of the UAE. The steps required to obtain an equivalency may be found below: University certificates and transcripts must be attested by the Ministry of Education in the country where the issuing university is based; Following that, the student also needs to have the certificates and transcripts attested by the UAE embassy or consulate in that same country; If the student is not able to have the attestation completed by the UAE embassy or consulate in that same country, they may also be able to obtain the same attestation or equalization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Consulate of the particular country they studied in; After the above is completed, the undergraduate equivalency certificate must be requested and issued by the UAE Ministry of Education.

The transfer admissions to the MScAI program are for students who are in Good Academic Standing from UAE institutions recorded in the National Register of Licensed HEIs, other organizations in the UAE approved by the CAA, or recognized institutions of higher learning located outside the UAE and they also satisfy CUD admission requirements as stated above. CUD transfers only credits of courses in which the student had obtained at least a ‘B’ (3.0 on a scale of 4.0) grade or better in his/her former institution; The course learning outcome and contents match at least 80% of that of the CUD course; The transfer of credits for Master's programs is limited to a maximum of 25% of the total credits required; CUD does not allow credits for the dissertation to be transferred to the MScAI program; CUD does not grant credit twice for substantially the same course taken at two different institutions; The applicants for transfer admissions are notified timely, before admission, of the transferability of credits, how many credits are granted, and how the accepted credits will be applied to the MScAI degree program; It is mandatory for transfer students to meet all of the admission requirements of the MScAI degree program. CUD does not allow, under any circumstances, transfer students to be admitted under conditional admission. CUD recognizes advanced standing with the condition that at least 75% of the programs' credit hours, including the majority of the final year courses, are completed at CUD. The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy in Policies and Procedures Manual presents the details.

Program Requirements

A student enrolled in MScAI program must have passed thirty-three (33) credit hours.
A student must achieve a CGPA of not less than 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 points.
A student must have earned at least 75% of credits at CUD.
The thesis must be completed at CUD.
